The AthleteIQ Score.
What It Measures. Why It Matters.
The AthleteIQ Score is a composite measurement of the six traits coaches value most. It's not a GPA. It's not a combine score. It's a documented, developable record of who you are as a competitor — and who you're becoming.
Get Your ScoreHow the Score Is Calculated
Each trait is scored 0–100 through assessments, daily habit completion, and module progress. The AthleteIQ Score is a weighted composite of all six traits.
Why is Coachability weighted at 25%? Because it is the single most important trait coaches evaluate in a recruit. An athlete who cannot be coached cannot be developed. Every other trait depends on it.
The Six Traits, In Depth
Coachability
The highest-weighted trait in the AthleteIQ Score. Coachability measures how an athlete responds to instruction, feedback, and correction — without ego, without resistance.
College coaches at every level — D1 through NAIA — consistently rank coachability as the most important non-athletic trait in a recruit. An uncoachable athlete with elite talent is a liability. A coachable athlete with good talent is an asset.
Discipline
Discipline is the bridge between talent and performance. It measures daily habits, consistency of preparation, and the ability to show up — especially when no one is watching.
Coaches don't just recruit athletes for what they can do today — they recruit for what they'll become. Discipline is the clearest predictor of long-term development.
Leadership
Leadership is not a title — it's a behavior. This trait measures how an athlete communicates, elevates teammates, and performs under competitive pressure.
Programs are built around leaders. Coaches at every level are looking for athletes who make the team better — not just individually better. Leadership scores directly impact program culture assessments.
Mental Toughness
Mental toughness is a skill — not a personality trait. It measures an athlete's ability to perform under pressure, recover from failure, and maintain focus when it matters most.
College coaches at all levels — D1, D2, D3, JUCO, and NAIA — are specifically looking for athletes who can handle the mental demands of college athletics. Mental toughness separates athletes who thrive from those who transfer or quit.
Recruiting Awareness
Recruiting awareness measures how well an athlete and their family understand the recruiting process — from initial contact through signing day.
Most families enter the recruiting process years too late, spending thousands on showcases with no strategy. Recruiting awareness gives athletes and families a measurable understanding of where they are in the process and what to do next.
NIL Readiness
NIL readiness measures how prepared an athlete is to navigate the Name, Image, and Likeness landscape — from personal branding to deal evaluation to legal awareness.
Every athlete is a brand — whether they manage it intentionally or not. NIL readiness ensures athletes protect their reputation, understand their rights, and are prepared to make informed decisions when opportunities arise.
